He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigners residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt. -Deuteronomy 10:18-19
Our Mission
We are a ministry of Fellowship Southwest and we are called to love and care for the immigrant community in the United States of America. We offer legal services at low cost or pro-bono to immigrants, which is one of the most important needs they face as they navigate the American immigration legal system, and we do it with compassion and mercy, the same way that Jesus Christ loves all his children.
History of ELIM
ELIM is recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice since 2023. We do our work under the auspices of Fellowship Southwest and the direction of Jesús and Elsa Romero.
From 2010 - 2022, the Romeros operated a similar ministry as Immigration Service and Aid Center (ISAAC) under the Christian Life Commission (CLC) at the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT).
The name ELIM stands for Educational and Legal Immigration Ministries, and it refers to Elim, a place mentioned in Exodus 15:27, a life-giving stop during the Israelites’ journey to where God was leading.
